Men CAN cook!

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Hi there! Ok. I don’t know about you, but it’s getting harder and harder to find the motivation to go outside and endure the elements these days, you know? So, even though I’m ready for old man winter to pack his bags and hit the road outta C-bus, I did still manage to get out this weekend and spend time with friends.  The warm and friendly atmosphere of my friend Tracey and Doug’s was a great distraction to the cold outside. Kids running around, cocktails and great food always remind me of why, no matter the weather, I love to socialize. While indulging in friendly conversation with old and new friends, I was pleased to discover that there are men out there who really can “do it all”. What I mean, is there’s a tendency to pick on men and their lack of domestic skills, and I’m finding in this day and age that this way of thinking is becoming more and more archaic. Ladies, because of my girlfriends FABULOUS husbands, not to mention my conversations with my “man” friends, I’m confident that there’s hope for we singletons who think all the good men are gone. Tracey’s husband Doug and his friend Mark put together a fantastic feast for us Saturday night (while we ladies watched and chatted); chili with the greatest flavor, pulled pork and black bean nachos and 5…count em, 5 pizzas all homemade…even the dough! Cheers to Doug and his buddies who’ve discovered that cooking isn’t just a way to a man’s heart (and for watching the kids while the ladies took a little trip “out”)!! In this day and age where women and men are becoming more and more equal when it comes to running the household, it’s refreshing to see that it’s not just about the bills. This single gal is hopeful that there’s an equal (who makes a mean pot roast) out there for me too! Cheers!  Oh, and Doug? I’ll be calling to see what’s on the menu this week :) Have a great Monday!  . -Trisha-
